Accountability / Self Drive
How do you keep yourself accountable?
In my own life I've tried tons of methods and found that some work better than others. For myself, I need to track what I'm doing. For whatever reason, having numbers, metrics, and data behind the things I'm doing and the ability to measure my improvements (or setbacks) is a massive motivator.
Pretty nerdy but it leads to some really cool outcomes. I've tracked each workout I've done (reps, weight, PRs), weighed myself everyday for the last 8 years, tracked all my spending, and recently started tracking how many pages / time I've spent reading.
Might be a little excessive to some but I really like it. I'm generally not sharing the results with anyone else, it's just the language of my brain.
I want to try a new accountability system that goes against one of my core beliefs.
I have always felt, in the deepest part of my soul, that you should not share what you are working on until it's done. Don't celebrate and don't toot your own horn with nothing to show for but words.
But this time I'm going to try it a bit different. I'm setting myself 100 days to get 100 subscribers to a newsletter I'm going to begin writing on Nashville.
Nashville2050 is what I'm calling it. Also Nashmazonians.
Two newsletters? I'm using this as a place to organize my thoughts. Online diary. I think it'll be one bigger picture newsletter but sent to separate lists. Can you tell that I don't really have a concrete plan yet? I really just want to get writing and see what comes out.
Maybe I'll come back to this on July 4th (self imposed deadline) and see that I was wrong about somethings, or maybe not! I'll continue to write on this website for myself and see how things progress.
